After winning three games in a row on home ice, the Wild win streak came to an abrupt end on Saturday night at Town Toyota Center in a 4-1 loss to the Prince George Spruce Kings.
The visiting team got on the board first as Nick Poisson snapped home an overskated puck in the left circle that picked the high glove side corner. The Spruce Kings got a friendly bounce when a centering pass from the corner deflected off a skate in front and careened in at a sharp angle for a 2-0 Prince George lead. Matt Gosiewski buried a shorthanded goal on the backhand rebound of a Murphy Stratton attempt to pull within a goal in the second, but Ben Brar rifled a 5-on-3 power play goal midway through the third, and Patrick Cozzi hit an empty net for the final 4-1 margin.
The win for the Spruce Kings was their first ever in Town Toyota Center, as Wenatchee was 14-0-0 against them all-time including playoffs entering Saturday’s game.
Wenatchee (9-7-2) hits the road for a Tuesday night game in West Kelowna (10-7-0-1) before returning home for a 4 game homestand. The game will be available for video streaming on HockeyTV, and will be broadcast live on “NewsRadio 560 KPQ” with the Pregame Show beginning at 6:45 pm.
