WILD OPEN PRESEASON SLATE THIS WEEKEND

The Wenatchee Wild played their last game three months and one day ago as they competed in the Royal Bank Cup Tournament for the National Championship of Canada. Now, after the shortest offseason in franchise history, the Wild have officially opened Main Camp today here in Wenatchee, and will see preseason game action this weekend.

This Saturday and Sunday the Wild will renew acquaintances with their Interior Conference Finals opponent, the Trail Smoke Eaters. The games will be played in the iFIBER Rink, adjacent to Town Toyota Center’s main arena. Game times are 7:00 pm on Saturday night, and 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are all General Admission for $10 each, and sold exclusively at the door.

Saturday August 25 – 7pm vs Trail Smoke Eaters
Sunday August 26 – 2pm vs Trail Smoke Eaters

This weekend’s games will feature a unique format, introduced last August in the preseason games between the same two clubs. Instead of a standard three period game, the teams will play two separate games of two periods apiece each day. With a larger number of players in camp battling to make the final roster (for both teams), this allows for more players to get the opportunity to compete in game situations. Four periods of hockey will be played each day as fans and coaches alike see this year’s roster hopefuls compete.

The Wild will play one more preseason game in the iFIBER Rink the following Friday, Aug. 31 at 7pm when the Penticton Vees come to town. That game will be a standard three period game and tickets will also be $10 general admission. Wenatchee’s preseason concludes the following night as the Wild travel to Penticton for a 6pm matchup with the Vees.

The regular season begins for Wenatchee on Sept. 7 when the Wild visit the Vernon Vipers. The Wild Home Opener will be Friday October 12 against the Nanaimo Clippers, and will feature the unveiling of the Championship Banners, a Ring Ceremony, and more.
