WILD COME HOME LOOKING TO EXTEND PLAYOFF SERIES

(PHOTO: Anthony Cafarelli (14) scored the lone Wild goal in Friday’s Game 5 loss.)

After two big home wins to pull even in the best-of-seven series with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, the Wild were stopped short in Game 5 Friday night in a 5-1 loss on the road. Game 6 will be in Wenatchee on Saturday April 9 at 6p.

Salmon Arm got on the board first about three minutes into the game, and the Wild tied it up on a hard shot from Anthony Cafarelli on the right wing on the rush, assisted by Cade Littler and Quinn Emerson, and the game remained tied at 1-1 after 20 minutes. Salmon Arm took a 2-1 lead on a 5-on-3 power play late in the second, then added one more for a 3-1 edge at the break. Two more in the third, including the first shorthanded goal of the series for either team lifted the Silverbacks to a 5-1 win to take a 3 games to 2 lead in the series. Andy Vlaha stopped 23 of 28 shots in the loss.

Wild Head Coach Chris Clark: “We got away from some of the things that allowed us to be successful in Games 3 and 4 the second half of the game tonight and that was the difference. We need to turn the page and turn our focus to winning Saturday night at home.”

The best-of-seven playoff series continues with Game 6 on Saturday in the Wolves Den at 6p. Live radio coverage will be available on NewsRadio 560 KPQ with video available at bchltv.ca. Arch Ecker provides the play-by-play. Game 6 tickets are available for just $13 anywhere in the bowl.

Vaccine card mandates are no longer required AND NO MASKS at Wild home games.
