Second year Wenatchee Wild defenseman Slava Demin was announced this week as a participant in the CJHL Prospects Game, which will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. ET in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada at Port Credit Memorial Arena.
In a release from the CJHL, it states, “Each of the players chosen to participate in the CJHL Prospects Game were selected through the efforts of NHL Central Scouting and are currently among the top 40 CJHL prospects heading into the 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas.”
The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) is comprised of ten junior hockey leagues across Canada, including the BCHL where the Wenatchee Wild play.
Demin, a native of Cypress, CA has committed to play his college hockey at Denver University. NHL Central Scouting has assigned Demin a “B” rating, indicating he is a projected second or third round draft pick for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, to be held in Dallas on June 22-23 at American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Stars.
No stranger to this caliber of competition, Demin has participated in events such as the All-American Prospects Game in Buffalo this past September, the U-17 All Nations Tournament in 2016, and the Ivan Hlinka Tournament in August. Demin has 7 goals and 19 assists in 34 games so far this season for the Wild.
The Wild are currently enjoying the holiday break and return to action December 29-30 with a pair of home games against the Penticton Vees. For tickets, please call the Wild office at 509-888-7825.
