The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) has released the schedule for the fifth Bauer BCHL Showcase Tournament, slated for September 21-25, 2016 at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack, BC.
The Wenatchee Wild, in their second season as members of the BCHL, will play Friday morning at 10:00 am against the Powell River Kings, then on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm against the Vernon Vipers. Last season, the Wild won both games at the Showcase, part of their five consecutive wins to open the season. The Bauer BCHL Showcase begins Wednesday night with a rematch of last seasons Fred Page Cup Finals, and wraps up early Sunday. There will be 17 games played, two for each of the league’s member clubs. All matchups feature non-division opponents and all games count for points in the standings.
Last year, over 200 scouts from college and pro ranks were in attendance.
Head Coach /GM Bliss Littler, who begins his fifth season behind the bench in Wenatchee, sees the Showcase as a tremendous opportunity. “It’s a great event for the players to get exposure, it’s great for the scouts to evaluate talent from across the league in one weekend, and it’s ideal for coaches as well. It’s a win-win all the way around.”
The BCHL is expected to release the full 2016-17 Game Schedule in conjunction with its member clubs later this week.
